How to use Mongodb Atlas on Mongodb for Mac OS

Introduction

As a budding developer, crafting your own database is both time-consuming and frustrating to learn. One solution is to have third party source takes care of database handling. Mongodb Atlas provides a database as a service platform for fast database deployment. This guide will provide an introductory level to Mongodb Atlas, however you should already be familiar with creating simple server side applications.

To make the most of this guide, please complete each section from the sidebar starting from the top in a descending order. Each section will have a thorough step by step guide on completing each numbered mini task. Please follow them as instructed and if you run into any troubles throughout, there is a troubleshoot and glossary section for you to refer to at the end.

Goal

By the end of this guide, you will have set up your own account with Mongodb Altas. This will be sufficient for beginner level deployment for any small scale application. With your account, you will create databases known as cluster. These clusters will be what connects mongodb to application such as a node server. You will learn how to set up your own cluster, and connect it to a simple node application. After that, we will go through data input, querying information, updating and deleting values from the database.

After going through this documentation, you should be familiar with setting up your MongoDB database and be confident in setting up your own schemas for different data relationships.
